Reggae Band to Donate Proceeds to Christchurch Earthquake
In light of the devastation caused by the Christchurch earthquake, many have offered support to those in need. Some have
given food supplies, blood and monetary donations while others have travelled down to the garden city to offer their
skills.
For Wellington reggae band Tomorrow People, they wanted to give something that their combined talents have manifested. “We felt so helpless watching it on the news today, the boys and I really wanted to do something” says lead singer Liam Va’ai. With their debut single 2 weeks away from release, Tomorrow People have taken to their
Facebook page to announce that all proceeds made from the sale of their single will be donated to the Red Cross
earthquake relief fund. “The song is called ‘Feel Alright’ and this is what the song is all about: Those that are fortunate need to help those
that are less fortunate” continues Liam.
The single which is due to be officially released on the 14th March features the talents of Hawaiian reggae group Kolohe
Kai. “The message in the song is one of spreading the aloha, and having Kolohe Kai collaborating strengthens the message that
much more” says manager Tana Tupai. Tomorrow People have only been together for over a year, yet they continue to make waves in
the NZ reggae music scene. ‘Feel Alright’ will be no exception.
