Support for inaugural Neighbours Day

Support for inaugural Neighbours Day

To show our support for the inaugural Neighbours Day Aotearoa on 26 March http://www.neighboursday.org.nz/, the Auckland Photo Blog http://www.photographyfestival.org.nz/photo-blog/introduction.cfm will be running a Neighbours theme throughout March.

The Auckand Photo Blog is an online digital platform for individuals across the Auckland region to share their photographs of Auckland. The Blog is a free community resource encouraging participation by the entire Auckland community to share their perspectives of their city through photography.

Neighbours Day is a project initiated by LIFEWISE, Inspiring Communities and the Methodist Mission Aotearoa to celebrate the importance of growing and strengthening friendships in our streets and communities to make our neighbourhoods safer, healthier and more supportive and fun places to live.

The Auckland Photo Blog invites you to send in your "NEIGHBOURLINESS" photographs right throughout the month of March here: http://www.photographyfestival.org.nz/photo-blog/submission.cfm . Amateur and professional photographers alike are welcome to represent themselves and the people in their daily lives online. Images need not be confined just to the people next door, but to any neighbours in your home, school or work lives who you would like to represent.

Like the Sesame Street Muppets say, who are the people in your neighbourhood? Show us through your photographs what it means to be a good neighbour in Auckland today. Maybe we can start by making a donation through the New Zealand Red Cross www.redcross.org.nz/donate to show our solidarity with our neighbours in Christchurch – Elaine Smith, Auckland Festival of Photography Trust.
