Sacred Hill scoops Gold at Royal Easter Wine Awards
Sacred Hill Wines has scooped a Gold Medal for its 2010 Sacred Hill HALO Sauvignon Blanc at this year’s Royal Easter Show Wine Awards.
Sacred Hill HALO Sauvignon Blanc is a premium varietal with grapes sourced from the Wairau Valley, Marlborough, which is renowned for producing high end wines. Only a limited amount of this wine is produced with the size of each parcel of wine influenced to a large extent by the quality of grapes.
“The 2010 Marlborough vintage yielded more intensity of aroma and flavour than the past several years, resulting in an expressive blend, representing a very special parcel of great fruit,” says Sacred Hill Senior Winemaker Tony Bish.

The Royal Easter Show Wine Awards received a total of 1542 entries, and a record 118 Gold medals were awarded by chairman of judges, Kate Radburnd and prominent Australian wine judge Mike DeGaris.
Sacred Hill also received two silver medals for its Hawke’s Bay Merlot Cabernet 2010 and Deerstalkers Syrah 2007.
“It’s fantastic to create wines that not only stand out as some of the best produced locally, but are also commercially priced. These medals continue to confirm the vineyard’s reputation of a quality approach to viticulture and winemaking,” says Bish.
Winners of the trophies will be announced at the Awards Dinner on 19 March.
