The Erroneous Forest
“dark comic improv with a bitter twist of clown”
Week 2: Tuesday February 22 - Saturday February 26
9:30pm

Improv is everywhere!
“Do you dare enter The Erroneous Forest?
A journey into the absurd with Wellington’s newest improv sensations, The Shrewdness. From the clever bastards that
brought you the 2010 NZ Fringe Festival comedy award winner, Ben Hur. A fantastical flight of fantasy with a bitter
twist of clown.”
This year improvisational theatre is blossoming in Wellington with up to 5 shows using improv as a basis for their
shows. From the straight up competitive improv games in The Improvisors ‘Cage Match’ or WITs ‘Battle of Wits’ to the musical, ‘WITside Story’. It also includes a re envisioning of the classic Greek play ‘Lysistrata’ featuring some of Wellingtons top improvisational talent including Christine Brooks, Derek Flores, and Simon Smith
collectively known as The Shrewdness.
The Shrewdness was inspired by desire to create a focused group dedicated to exploring new avenues of spontaneous theatre, and thanks
to funding support from The Kakano Trust, it can! Playfulness, character driven narrative, and experimentation are at
the root of The Erroneous Forest. The Erroneous Forest is long form improv using clown characters to tell dark Grimm style tales. Combing clown characters and dark, twisted
subject matter allows for fresh, new exciting stories to be told.
This isn’t your high school teachers improv!
