Vodafone Junior Warriors Ease Past Wellington Schoolboys

Vodafone Junior Warriors Ease Past Wellington Schoolboys

Rotorua, New Zealand, February 12, 2010 – After racing to a 28-0 halftime lead the Vodafone Junior Warriors were held up slightly in the second half before beating the Wellington Schoolboys 40-20 in today’s NYC trial at Rotorua’s International Stadium.

Fielding a line-up featuring a number of the club’s development players, the Vodafone Junior Warriors looked accomplished early on as they scored inside the first two minutes.

Also among the early scorers was rugby league great Tawera Nikau’s son Tyme, playing the centres for the Vodafone Junior Warriors.

But after causing so much damage in the opening 40 minutes, they managed only two second half tries and conceded four including a double to Wellington halfback Kimi Pakipaki-Hemopo.

Last week the Vodafone Junior Warriors had a 32-20 victory against the Wellington Orcas’ 20s. They’ll again feature in the curtain raiser at Whangarei’s Toll Stadium, facing Otahuhu’s Fox Memorial side before the NRL side’s trial against the Burleigh Bears.
