Kiwi 'Birds' flock together to support feathered friends
MEDIA RELEASE 9 FEBRUARY 2010
Kiwi 'Birds' flock together to support their feathered friends!
Some of New Zealand's most foremost female artists will be appearing at the inaugural Live at the Islands Motutapu concert this Saturday 12 February in support of vital conservation projects.
The full day festival line up includes this year's Best Solo Female Artist Tui winner Anika Moa, Minuit, Kirsten Morrell, Helen and the Birds, Lisa Crawley and Janine Foster.
"Getting support from high profile artists is definitely one of the key objectives of all our concerts for conservation", says co-director Jackie Sanders, "Anika, Minuit and Kirsten Morrell all headlined at Urupukapuka in the Bay of Islands earlier in the year and loved the experience and we know the concert-goers will love Motutapu too!"
Adds Kirsten Morrell, "I'm looking forward to the gig on Motutapu, we have such beautiful islands in the Waitemata Harbour, it'll be really nice to share that with everyone."
The boys are represented too, with Nathan Haines and his Dream Band, The Earlybirds and the unisex Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.
If there are any boys out there still looking for something for their favourite 'bird' around Valentines Day, why not grab a ticket to the Midori Green Room. This includes access to your own reserved area, bar and toilets, a complimentary drink or two on arrival, plus some tasty island platters to nibble on. Tickets are only $120, which includes your return transfers from the Viaduct Harbour direct to the island. She will love you for it!
