Quality All the Way
Jake Lambert showed he's going to be a force to be reckoned with after posting the only triple clear round in the seven year old championship at the Global Performance Horses NZ Young Horse Showjumping Championships in Taupo today (Sunday).
The youngster from Cambridge, in just his second season in horses, was a clear winner aboard Quality NZPH in the class at the three day show.
Molly Bennett (Wairoa) and Ngahiwi Cupid paid the price for a rail, collecting four faults. They did however, secure the seven year old style prize.
Lambert, who was a successful pony rider, also took out the junior rider class aboard O So Happy.
Competitors jump a round a day in their respective classes, with faults accumulating throughout.
Kim Best (Otane) and Mr Wiggle took both the four year old championship and style price.
Auckland based Canadian Kyle Timm had another good young horse champs winning the five year old aboard Schweppes LC, the five year old style prize with LC Riviere Rouge and the six year old style prize with LC Telepathy.
New Zealand won the trans Tasman young rider challenge against Queensland, who had to settle for third behind the second-placed composite team.
The young horse show, which attracted more than 260 combinations, is a celebration of New Zealand's up and coming young horses.
