Wellington Blaze squad named for Women’s third round against Otago
The Wellington Blaze squad to meet the Otago Sparks at Barton Oval, Trentham Memorial Park, Upper Hutt, in the third round of the 2010/11 domestic Women’s Action Cricket Cup One-Day and Action Cricket Twenty20 competitions on 7, 8 and 9 January is:
Sophie Devine (c)
Sarah Bradbury
Michelle Bunkall
Maddy Chapman
Amanda Cooper
Lucy Doolan
Allex Evans
Renee Moffitt
Liz Perry
Sian Ruck
Andrea Stockwell
Sarah Taylor
There are two changes to the Wellington Blaze squad that played the Canterbury Magicians at the same venue earlier this week. Sarah Taylor replaces Megan Wakefield, who has a hamstring injury. England Women’s international Taylor replaced Wakefield in the team in Tuesday’s 8-wicket Action Cricket Twenty20 victory over Canterbury. Mindy Hodgson drops out of the squad for this round due to overseas family commitments.
Sophie Devine assumed the captaincy from Wakefield on Tuesday and will lead the team against Otago.
All-rounder Amanda Cooper plays her 100th Women’s domestic One-Day game in Saturday’s Action Cricket Cup match. 27-year old Cooper made her debut in 1999/00 and has a highest score of 85 not out and a best bowling return of 6 for 9, which she took against Otago two seasons ago. A presentation will be made to her at the conclusion of this match.
The Wellington Blaze head into this last round of home matches as leaders of the Twenty20 competition (ahead on net run rate) after four matches, and in third equal in the 50-over competition after two fixtures.
