Stakes Success Continues in Australia and Asia

Stakes Success Continues in Australia and Asia

In a strong day for New Zealand Bloodstock graduates on New Zealand shores, Group success was also attained in Australia and Hong Kong.

The A$200,000 Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) saw a strong win by Ahdashim (Elusive City x Clinque). Usually travelling at the back of the field, jockey Craig Williams had the five-year-old just off the leading pack in transit. At the 300 metres the son of Elusive City kicked well, claiming the front at the 100 metres, going to the line to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

It was the second win by the son of Elusive City down the Flemington straight, he won on the 1200 metre straight on Melbourne Cup day last year beating the smart Here de Angels. Yesterday's win saw connections pocket A$120,000, taking Ahdashim's stakes earnings to over A$460,000.

Bought and trained by Gerald Ryan, Ahdashim was purchased from Trelawney Stud in the 2007 Premier Yearling Sale for $150,000.

The 2010 Karaka Premier Sale saw a half brother to So You Think by Elusive City sell for $260,000. Elusive City also topped both the Karaka Select and Karaka Festival Sales in 2010. Racing at Sha Tin in Hong Kong saw Little Ridge (Faltaat x Golden Rose) put in a good performance to win the HK-3 Chinese Club Challenge Cup (1400m) by half-a-length.

The black type win is Little Ridge's sixth victory, his first at stakes level, taking his earnings to HK$4,434,750. Third place went to fellow kiwi bred and NZB graduate High Point (Spectatorial).

The son of Faltaat was bought by Mrs MC Harkema from Wentwood Grange from the 2007 National Weanling Sale for $9,000.
