Tough night for BSL Racing
BSL Racing’s drivers Shayne Alach and Scott Buckley have both had unfortunate problems put an end to their runs at the
second round of the International Midget Series held at Western Springs on December 29.
Buckley started his opening heat from third on the grid, however with the elusive electrical problem that forced him out
of a strong position on boxing night reared its ugly head and Buckley was forced out on only the second lap. His second
heat saw him start near the back and struggle to move forward, meaning he contest the semi-main for a place in the 30
lap feature race.
Alach on the other hand had a strong run in the heats, working his way from the back of the grid to ninth in his first
heat and following up with a flag to flag win in his second heat to claim eighth on the grid for the feature.
Also in trouble was F2 midget driver Trewen Joine who failed to start either of his heats. Having started from the back
of the field, the driver commonly known as ‘Trigger’ claimed the final step on the podium in his feature race.
Buckley’s night ended early in the semi-main when the electrical problem again piped up, this time on only the first
lap, meaning the end of the night.
Having started the feature well, Alach worked the high line and worked his way into the top five of the international
field, but with just five laps to go, Alach jumped the ‘cushion’ on the race track and rolled out of the race, albeit
with minimal damage to the number 11 Spike.
The BSL Racing crew now prepare for their first race of 2011 on January 1, which includes the ‘King of the Springs’
40-lap feature race.
