ABOUT THE WIGGLES
The Wiggles, the world’s #1 preschool entertainers, perform over 200 shows annually across four continents. The Wiggles are seen on TV in over 110 countries worldwide.
The Wiggles have sold more than 24 million DVDS and videos, 8 million CDs and 8 million books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. You can also follow the gang on Twitter via Twitter.com/ItsWiggleTime or become a fan of their official Facebook page Facebook.com/TheWiggles.
WHAT THE WIGGLES HAVE BEEN DOING IN 2010....
The Wiggles have been extremely busy in 2010 and have just partly completed their biggest international tour on record with concerts in the UK, USA, Singapore, Dubai, New Zealand and are about to embark on their annual Arena tour of Australia.
Investiture
In September the Big Red Car went to Government House, Sydney, Australia for a special one-off ceremony where The Wiggles were presented with their Order of Australia awards from Governor Marie Bashir. The announcement was made back in January and the investiture was held in April 2010. Unfortunately The Wiggles were on tour, flying the flag for Australia and were unable to attend the ceremony.
They have been made Members in the General Division of the Order of Australia for their service to children's entertainment, and for their support for charities like Starlight Children's Foundation and St Vincent de Paul, as well as for their work as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.
Jeff Fatt, the purple Wiggle said “it was a very moving experience to be recognised in this way. Governor Bashir is a very warm and welcoming person”.
During the ceremony, Governor Bashir told The Wiggles how her grandchildren were fans and it was wonderful that The Wiggles were able to bring joy to so many people.
i-Phone Apps
Also in September the world’s premiere children’s entertainers, The Wiggles, proudly announced the release of their very own series of iPhone applications!
For the first time ever, with just the touch of their fingertips fans can drive the big red car, sip rosy tea with Dorothy and play dress up with the entire gang!
Staying true to The Wiggles philosophy of “education through entertainment,” each application contains cognitive, physical and social elements to help benefit the preschooler. Not only are the games educational, but they also are exciting, taking advantage of the iPhone’s Multi-Touch interface, large screen and high-quality graphics.
The Wiggles forge a partnership with PowerHouse Museum in 2011
To celebrate The Wiggles 20th anniversary in 2011, a partnership has been formed with the PowerHouse Museum in Sydney, Australia, where a large exhibition will be on display from mid 2011.
