Fiery magic lights up festival
Montreal’s world famous fire artists, Les Walkyries, are coming back to Christchurch to tantalise audiences with their powerful, energetic and highly entertaining fire acrobatic dance shows.
Renowned for their humour and world-class skills, Les Walkyries have inspired 10 years of oohhs and aahhs around the globe, performing everywhere from on the street to the theatres of the infamous Cirque du Soleil. Now they are bringing their special brand of fiery magic to Christchurch for the World Buskers Festival.
“These girls obviously never paid any attention when they were told not to play with fire,” says festival artistic director Jodi Wright. “What they can do with live flames defies belief and makes for spectacular entertainment.
“If you missed out on seeing them when they were here last time I thoroughly recommend you make a beeline for their show this time around.”
Les Walkyries will perform two shows each night from Friday 21 to Saturday 29 January as part of the Christchurch Casino Fire Shows. The first show is at 7pm in Cathedral Square, with a later performance at 10pm on the UC Stage in UC Busker Park, Victoria Square.
The World Buskers Festival starts in Christchurch on January 20 and runs until January 30. For more details about the festival go to www.worldbuskersfestival.com.
