RDC youth projects officer Jill Campbell says the Western Heights project has been through the community consultation phase, and next week’s meeting is an opportunity for locals to keep up-to-date with plans for the Park Rd Reserve area.
“As a result of the community’s input we now have detailed designs and images for the youth site, which includes a full netball and basketball court, skateboarding and BMX features, seating, artwork, and maintenance of the existing field and playground.
“It’s an exciting venture that will benefit the community’s young people, families and schools. Everyone’s keen to change the culture and space of the existing area so that there’s a positive hive of activity for all to enjoy, while deterring any undesirable goings-on.
“If people have any questions we’ll be there to provide answers and more information where possible. Anyone interested is welcome to come along.”
Mrs Campbell says the Western Heights Youth Spaces Project is expected to be complete by June 2011.
Next week’s Youth Spaces Project meeting for Western Heights is at 6pm on Tuesday 7 December at St Michael’s Catholic School Hall on Clayton Rd.
