Nick Jr. Launches in New Zealand on Christmas Eve
Brand new dedicated Pre-schoolers’ television channel debuts in time for Christmas
Kiwi pre-schoolers and parents will have an extra special Christmas this year with the launch of a dedicated Nick Jr.
channel on Christmas Eve (at 4.30pm on SKY channel 044). To celebrate Christmas, Nick Jr. presents Kiwis with all its
favourite shows including Christmas specials from the hugely popular favourites Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go!, Team Umizoomi and the Wonder Pets.
Nick Jr. builds on Nickelodeon’s reputation as the world’s leading entertainment brand for kids. With a commitment to
stimulate, educate, involve, excite and develop enquiring minds, Nick Jr.’s philosophy is to ‘play along and learn’
through award-winning and exclusive international series including Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go!
Nickelodeon Australasia’s General Manager, Katrina Southon explains Nick Jr.’s mission: “Nick Jr. is a place where
pre-schoolers gain key curricular knowledge in thematic blocks of programming. Through interactivity and narrative, Nick
Jr. helps kids learn early literacy, social studies, basic math, science, art, language acquisition and simple life
skills. Our approach is to connect key educational content with experiences children know and love.
“New Zealand kids will be able enjoy Nick Jr. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week commercial free and their parents can be
confident that their kids are being educated and informed in a safe and entertaining environment. We look forward to
bringing Nick Jr.’s family of characters to New Zealand,” she says.
The schedule for Nick Jr. will include Blue’s Clues, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go!, Ni Hao Kai-lan, Team Umizoomi, the Wonder Pets and the animated series Little Bill. Little Bill is the brainchild of Bill Cosby and based on his best-selling children’s books. It follows the adventures of an
inquisitive, energetic and highly imaginative 5 year old boy as he investigates his world.
Nick Jr. is the newest channel in SKY Television’s offering for New Zealand viewers and is available as part of the
basic subscription package, consolidating SKY as the place for family entertainment.
Kicking off with a very special Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure at 4.30pm on Friday 24 December, make sure you don’t
miss all the excitement and festive fun on the brand new Nick Jr. (SKY channel 044).
