Winner of the Downunder World Challenge!
Announcing the Winner of the Downunder World
Challenge! New Zealand has voted and chosen Andrew
Strugnell to explore the world for 12 weeks and help out
with TEAR Fund projects!
After receiving a landslide of votes from the public, Andrew Strugnell is the winner of the Downunder World Challenge. He was one of three finalists selected by Downunder Worldwide Insurance. He will now take on the world over 12 weeks, traveling to Peru, England, Egypt, Italy, Uganda, Nepal, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. He will also experience working alongside TEAR Fund in developing countries, building a hospital and doing community education. Throughout the journey Andrew will be updating our social networks and telling NZ about his amazing adventure.
Andrew Strugnell is a 21-year-old filmmaker from Wellington that showed an amazing amount of resourcefulness and creativity to take out the challenge. >From generating awareness of his cause through YouTube videos to being entirely painted in “Downunder” orange on Cuba Street, Andrew didn’t stop campaigning. He will take off on this life changing experience on the 24th of January.
Andrew’s closest challenger was TV presenter and model Katy Thomas from Auckland. Katy also made a tremendous effort to capture the public’s attention through radio and newspaper interviews as well as through various blogs. Katy’s supporters were vocal through to the end on Downunder’s Facebook wall, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to take out the challenge.
