William and Kate’s Wedding
Monarchy New Zealand sends its congratulations to Prince William, second in line to the throne of New Zealand, and Kate Middleton on the announcement of their engagement. Simon O’Connor, Chair of Monarchy New Zealand said, “Like all members of the royal family, Prince William has a history of working for the public; of working to benefit good causes, reaching out to people from all walks of life, and fostering goodwill throughout the Commonwealth. It is excellent to know that he has found a partner to join him in these endeavours. No doubt, Kate will be a conscientious member of the kiwi royal family and will quickly become involved with a number of charities in this country.”
Monarchy New Zealand looks forward to the wedding in 2011, and encourages the government to invite the young couple to Aotearoa as soon as possible. Public interest is already very evident and many people will be eager to see for themselves the couple who will one day be the King and Queen of New Zealand.
