Media release: NorthTec Kerikeri students ‘art in the garden’

Students on the Bachelor of Applied Arts programme at NorthTec’s Kerikeri campus displayed their work at an end of semester ‘art in the garden’ display today. (subs 11 November). The students displayed their work and then shared the meaning behind it and the learning that they have gained from their creative process with their fellow students as part of their assessment.

Kerikeri campus horticulture and sustainable rural development tutor Clare Vallom said that she was delighted to see the students interacting with the garden space in this way. “It’s been my dream for some time that the applied arts students would display their installation art like this. It really showcases our beautiful campus and the creativity of our talented students.”

The Kerikeri campus will be having a showcase on Wednesday, 17 November where work by the Bachelor of Applied Arts and ACE pottery, painting and ‘Tuia te Korari’ (weaving) students will be on display. Visitors, friends and family are welcome to come to the campus between 5pm-8pm. There will be live jazz music, visitors will be taken on a tour of the students’ work and there will be the opportunity to purchase some of the art work.


NorthTec is the Tai Tokerau (Northland) region's largest provider of tertiary education, with campuses and learning centres in Whangarei, Kerikeri, Rāwene, Kaikohe and Kaitaia. NorthTec also has over 60 community-based delivery points from Coatesville in rural Rodney to Ngataki in the Far North.
