Original jewellery up for grabs
Contemporary jewellery lovers will have a chance to bid for some original pieces at the Whitireia student contemporary jewellery auction being held on 18 November 2010 at Mighty Mighty, 104 Cuba Street, Wellington.
The auction, being run by Whitireia Bachelor of Applied Arts students, in its fifth year, is a great way for the students to showcase their amazing, original creations while giving the public the opportunity to purchase pieces at auction.
National Radio presenter, Kim Hill will act as auctioneer on the night. Ms Hill is a natural entertainer with a keen interest in the students work. This will be the third year she has worked with the students. She works well with them and for them, by carrying the evening from beginning to end.
This year’s auction will see pieces by contemporary jewellery practitioners Peter Deckers, Matthew McIntyre Wilson, Mel Young and Owen Mapp go under the hammer as well as original works by the students. Around 30 pieces will be up for grabs.
The money raised from this auction will go towards the printing of the student’s 2010 catalogue.
The auction is a fantastic opportunity for jewellery lovers to walk away with an original piece from an established name in contemporary jewellery and emerging artists.
The auction starts at 6.30pm at Mighty Mighty.
Viewing will be available from 6pm.
