Fantastic Finale For Karapiro
The last seven medal finals will be decided on the closing day of the 2010 World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro
on Sunday.
Following Saturday’s two golds, one silver and one bronze medal haul for the host nation, three more NZ crews line up in
medal finals tomorrow.
“It’s going to be another amazing day,” says CEO Tom Mayo. “Today we had fantastic racing with nailbiting finishes. The
crowd lifted the NZ crews to extraordinary performances. And tomorrow we finish with the eights – a fantastic finale for
these Championships, especially with the NZ men’s eight back in a medal final at last. It's been 19 years since that
last happened.”
Racing begins at 11.29 with the small finals and the morning session finishes with the B Final for the women’s and men’s
eights. Two NZ crews feature in the B Finals: Duncan Grant in the lightweight men’s single sculls and the women’s eight.
After the lunch break, the medal finals begin with the lightweight women’s single sculls.

2.03pm Louise Ayling in the lightweight women’s single sculls
3.03pm Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan in the men’s double sculls
3.38pm Ben Hammond, Chris Harris, Tyson Williams, Ian Seymour, Tobias Wehr Candler, Adam Tripp, Sean O’Neill, Michael
Arms and cox Ivan Pavich in the men’s eights
Off the water entertainment includes The LadyKillers and, after the official Closing Ceremony, Tahuna Breaks play on the
main stage to bring the event to an end.
