FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – TUESDAY 2ND NOVEMBER
Show Me Shorts Nominees Announced
The fifth annual Show Me Shorts Film Festival has announced the nominees for all eight award categories, as selected by the 2010 judges Kathryn Burnett, James Cunningham and Tammy Davis.
This Is Her has been highlighted as one to watch, with nominations in five different categories, while Brave Donkey and Choice Night are also highly noted with four nominations each. All nominees are competing for a total prize pool valued at over $10,000, with the major award for Kodak Best Film taking away enough reels of Kodak motion picture film to shoot their next short film.
All winners will be announced this Thursday 4th November with a glamorous opening and awards night at Auckland’s Academy Cinemas, where audience members attending will have the chance to see the eight winning films and celebrate with the filmmakers.
Judge Kathryn Burnett comments, “This year’s festival offered such a wide range of innovative and accomplished films and it was incredibly difficult to keep the number of finalists to two or three”.
Festival Director Gina Dellabarca adds, “We are thrilled with the overall quality of the films entered this year, and look forward to celebrating on Thursday with all the filmmakers”.
The full list of nominations can be found below, and further information on the awards night can be found at www.showmeshorts.co.nz/the-awards.
