Comedy Central responds to outcry from dedicated fans of The Daily Show & Colbert Report by launching the ‘Bring Back the Shows’ Campaign at www.bringbacktheshows.co.nz
At the end of September, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report were removed from Comedy Central’s schedule due to
expiring licenses. While the decision was not made lightly, it came as a big shock to loyal fans that subsequently
rallied together in protest. Public outcry has run the gamut from tame to flame: “Are you mad!” “These 2 shows are the
main reason I have a Sky subscription”, “Bring back TV that involves some intelligence” and “Ya’ll are some kind of
stoopid muthaf**kers”.
Comedy Central has responded in kind by creating a protest site asking fans to take action in order to bring the shows
back on the channel.
www.bringbacktheshows.co.nz hosts a banner that states “Bring Back The Daily Show & Colbert Report” where protestors can select a piece of the banner to register their vote and tell us why we should
bring the shows back. Every response submitted will uncover a section of the protest banner. We need 4,000 pieces to be
joined together to show us you care.
Once 4,000 comments of protest have been logged, Comedy Central will bring back the best-of-the-week Global Editions*
for both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report.
