Fijians Celebrate Diwali
“The members, supporters. fans and well-wishers of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ), Young Executive Club (YEC), All
Ethnic Congress (AEC) and the New Zealand Association of Certified Public Accountants (NZACPA), will be celebrating
Diwali on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31from 1pm to 10pm and 12 noon to 9pm respectively at Aotea Center,
Auckland”, said Alton Shameem JP the New Zealander- Fijian Community Leader, Founder and President of all the
aforementioned organizations at Takapuna, North shore City, Auckland the City of Celebrations.
“Our fellow New Zealander-Fijian Committee Member Pratima Nand QSM, JP the 2010 Kiwi Bank Local Community Hero recipient
and also regarded by many in the community as the Mahatma Gandhi of our great country New Zealand will have a stall at
the Aotea Center. The stall number is 10 and is christened as Pratima’s Royal Recipes so please do pop in.
Yummy, delectable, colorful and exotic Indian food will be on sale such as chole bhatura, Royal mango lassi ( the best
in town), Fijian fruit punch, pakoda ( bhajiya), vada (bara), spicy potato, fritters, Indian masala chai, Dilmah Sri
Lankan tea and Mocconna coffee for the passionate ones, Pratima’s exquisite home-made tea and icy cold soft drinks” said

“New Zealand’s first locally produced authentic Indian cooking DVDs titled Pratima’s Royal Recipes with accompanying
cook books in color will also be on sale at amazing low prices. The proceeds from this sales will support the 14 year
old Women’s Hindi Radio Program called the Jhankaar on Planet FM 104.6 www.planetaudio.org.nz/shankar.
Pratima Nand QSM, JP is also child sponsor and producer of devotional CDs the proceeds of which go to the deserving
Fijian children in Fiji for their education. Melodious Bhajan Mala CD and Sai Devi mala CDs will also be on sale at
Stall number 10 and these will be golden opportunities for all to grab these CDs and be proud supporters of this worthy

“Diwali is a five day festival symbolizing good over evil, freedom, light overcoming darkness, happiness, joy,
prosperity, peace, hope, faith and love. Bhai dooj that is the honoring of brother and sister relationship is an
integral part of Diwali celebrations as we all are brothers and sisters in our journey of life” said Alton Shameem JP

human values since time immemorial of love, peace, engagement, freedom, hope, faith, prosperity and goodness to all our
