Comedy Central Roast Of Mike King
MIKE KING AND FRIENDS TAKE TO THE STAGE FOR A NIGHT OF BAD BEHAVIOUR
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Auckland, Wednesday 20 October
We all know Kiwis love a good roast, so Comedy Central is making a night of it with New Zealand’s very first live ‘roast’ of Mike King. Featuring some of New Zealand's high profile comedians, Mike King will be roasted on stage serving up all the crackling and fat you could ask for.
The Comedy Central Roast of Mike King will take place on Friday 19 November at Auckland’s iconic Mercury Theatre to an audience of Kiwi comedians, celebrities, TV personalities and members of the comedy loving public. Tickets can be purchased at www.iticket.co.nz or (09) 361 1000 from 9am Friday 22nd October.
The Roast will be filmed and played on Comedy Central Wednesday 15th December at 8.30pm, SKY Channel 010.
Guest roasters include Brendhan Lovegrove, Michelle A’Court, Jeremy Elwood, Andrew Clay, Dean Butler and Jan Maree, who are all lining up to dethrone The King. They’ll take to the stage dishing both insults and injury. The Comedy Central Roast format brings out the worst behaviour in comedians; it’ll be an evening full of outlandish insults and general bad behaviour, as fellow comedians and friends take to the stage to expose the inside stories and dish the dirt on the legendary Mike King.
A true comedian and performer, King will be ready for anything the roasters throw his way. “Although as The King, I expect to be royally roasted, my comedy compadres better bring their A-game, ‘cos I’ll be roasting them right back, Maori style. It should be a hell of a hangi!” says King. Anyone who has seen Mike in action knows he doesn’t pussy foot around tender issues. So be prepared for no stone to be left unturned, no culture left unbruised, and no roaster left unburnt.
Willy de Wit will lord over the proceedings as the evening’s official Roast Master. “Mike King is what Billy T James would have been like if he’d been on acid,” exclaims de Wit. Having recently finished a distinguished 13 year career in radio, Willy decided to take a break from broadcasting (translation: he got fired). He is now looking at several new projects (i.e. housing) and he insists that he is not drinking before 11am, but maybe by 11.30am.
The Comedy Central Roast of Mike King will be comedy like you’ve never seen before!
