Rod Dixon Shares His Secrets On World Class Long Distance Running At Powerade Coaching Master Class
Coca-Cola Amatil (CCANZ) in association with the Lovelock Davies Athletics Foundation are bringing legendary Kiwi marathon runner Rod Dixon home to speak at an exclusive Powerade Seminar for runners and coaches of all ages and stages. Novices, veterans, coaches and running junkies are invited along to gain tips and insights from one of New Zealand’s most celebrated runners.
When Rod Dixon reflects on the incredible athletics talent New Zealand possesses, he says he immediately recognises that all our great champions have evolved through the junior grades and the effective coaching that organisations such as the Lovelock-Davies Athletics Foundation provides.
“The
great New Zealand coach, the late Arthur Lydiard, once said
talent abounds in New Zealand, we just need to coach the
coaches," says Rod.
“Hopefully, I can inspire and
convince people to continue with the great work everyone is
doing for the next generation of New Zealand
athletes.”
The event at the North Shore AUT auditorium
on October 28 is scheduled for when hundreds of runners will
be in the city ahead of the ‘sold out’ Auckland
marathon.
The evening involves a meet and greet, Rod’s presentation and an interactive Q and A session.
This one-off event, which is being put on by CCNZ and the Lovelock Davies Athletics Foundation free of charge, is already booked out.
CCANZ Managing Director George Adams says “we leapt at the opportunity to bring Rod back home to share his wealth of knowledge on long distance running. We have enjoyed a three year partnership with the Lovelock Davies Athletics Foundation with the aim of raising performance standards of both coaches and athletes alike.”
