Non-profit groups score trip to the footy with SBS Bank

Two non-profit groups will be cheering on their Tasman Makos for a big finish in their final two home games over the coming week after scoring free tickets through a special prize draw for SBS Star account holders.

SBS Star is a banking package specifically tailored for non-profit clubs and societies that offers internet banking with dual signatory access for added security through i-bank star, no fees, no minimum opening balance and the chance to win $1000 through 10 prize draws every month.

SBS Bank Blenheim manager Greg Stretch said the September promotion offered existing SBS Star account holders, along with any non-profit groups who opened up a SBS Star account during the month, the opportunity to go into a draw to win 15 tickets so they could “Take the team to the footy with SBS Bank.”

The Marlborough Youth Trust won the draw to take their team to the Makos versus Bay of Plenty game at Lansdowne Park, in Blenheim, this Sunday 10 October and they were more than delighted with the news.

Marlborough Youth Trust youth worker Sunny Panapa said she extended thanks to SBS Bank on behalf of the trust for the 15 tickets to see the Makos game this weekend.

“As a non-profit organisation, we work to provide services to the communities, groups and individuals that enables, supports and encourages the development and well being of young people in Marlborough.

“The rugby tickets will be given to families who do not usually get the chance to go out together and who will enjoy the opportunity to watch the Makos live at Lansdowne Park.”

Mr Stretch said at SBS Bank they were always looking for new and innovative ways of giving back to our members and our communities and our hard-working non-profit organisations help make our communities what they are.

“That’s why it’s important to find ways to celebrate their efforts and thank them for what they give back to our wider community.”

The team at Nelson Lifeline were the other delighted recipients of 15 tickets to support the Makos when they take on Northland, at Trafalgar Park on Friday 15 October.

Nelson Lifeline administrator Judy Biggs said it was a pleasant surprise to win.

“We’re going to use our free tickets to reward our hard working volunteers by giving them a fun night at the rugby.”

“LifeLine Nelson opened accounts with SBS Bank earlier this year and found the process very easy with the care, attention and welcoming SBS Bank staff. There was much excitement, laughter and dancing in the office when we were notified that we had won $1000 in the May prize draw for SBS Star. The money was used towards the purchase of a data projector for use with internal training. It is a huge thank you to SBS Bank from the team at Lifeline Nelson!”

SBS Bank Nelson manager Matthew Isbister said it was terrific to see two such charitable organisations win the rugby tickets.

“Both groups are heavily involved in counselling and welfare roles in their communities and provide an important and respected service. To be able to treat their volunteers or disadvantaged people in their care to a night of cheering, fun and, hopefully, winning with their Tasman Makos is a great way SBS Bank can reward them for their efforts.”
