Amphebian Wins Supreme But One Family Are Simply The Best!

NZ Body Art Award Winners Announced

The Bruce Mason theatre was brought to life Saturday evening with bright stars, out-of-this-world creatures and incredible Indian goddesses, as the fifth NZ Body Art Awards took to the stage.

As Indian top model, Bollywood superstar and former Miss India (World), Sindhura Gadde hosted the night of visual celebration, she announced that the Supreme Award winner was Erin Harrison, who created an endearing turtle (Special FX) creature that won the hearts of the audience - her win brought down the house in rapturous applause.

Another artist that went home happy was Yolanda Bartram, as she won the Illumination category with an amazing fluorescent creation while husband Julian Bartram won the Audience Choice award with his delightful peacock creation. The family's win did not stop there however, as Yolanda's younger sister, Myrtha Heydenrijk, won the Handpainted- Professional Artist Award! Yolanda showed the audience why she won the World Championship in Austria for Body Painting this year, and it looks like her family are hot on her heels!

Multi academy award winner Weta Workshop's and newly knighted Sir Richard Taylor was in attendance judging the event, he stated " it's really important for us old hands of the business , to come and soak up the passion and energy of emerging artists , it reminds me why I love what I do" he went on to say "NZ Body Art Awards is such an important event as it allows artists to interact with mentors, other practitioners and enthusiasts"
