Kiwi Wine Scores Big in Global Competition
Popular Kiwi winery Waipara Hills has scored
a major win at one of the world’s largest and most
prestigious wine competitions.
The Waipara Hills 2009 Soul of the South Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was awarded Gold at the Mundus Vini International Wine Awards hosted in Germany.
Launched in 2001, the influential competition attracted 5800 entrants from 42 countries and was created to promote the quality and marketing of the wines submitted.
Waipara Hills marketing manager Cathy Wansink says the company is delighted to have their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc recognised at the awards.
“This medal is testament to the hard work of our viticulturalists who carefully manage the production of the grapes in the Wairau and the Awatere Valleys of Marlborough as well as our talented winemaker Simon McGeorge,” says Wansink.
The 2009 Soul of the South Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has also proved a success at a number of other wine awards, winning Silver at Decanter World Wine Awards and Gold at the Sydney International Wine Competition, The New Zealand International Wine Show, The Royal Easter Show Wine Awards and the Liquorland International Top 100.
