Black Ferns halfback SportsPerson of the Year at Lincoln
A galaxy of national
and provincial sporting talent among the students at Lincoln
University was honoured last night (Wednesday 29 Sept.) in
the annual presentation on campus of University Sports Blues
and Sports Scholarship Awards.
Black Ferns halfback
Kendra Cocksedge, 22, a Bachelor of Sport & Recreation
Management student, was named Lincoln University Sports
Person of the Year, adding further lustre to her career as a
Prime Minister’s Scholar at Lincoln University. She also
received a fourth Rugby Blue and in the past has also won a
university Cricket Blue.
Originally from Taranaki and a former pupil of New Plymouth Girls’ High School, Kendra has been a member of the New Zealand Black Ferns since 2007 and played in the recent 2010 World Cup tournament in which New Zealand retained its World Champion title.
The Lincoln University Netball A Team, runner-up in the Christchurch Netball Championships Premier Grade for 2010, after winning the grade last year, was named Sports Team of the Year.
