NZOC Joins Forces to Push for Resolution 22
September 10
Senior officials from the New Zealand Olympic Committee have completed their inspection of the facilities in Delhi and are today heading home to New Zealand to brief the organisation’s board on Friday.
President Mike Stanley and Secretary General Barry Maister spent 24 hours in the Indian capital after concerns were raised about lack of progress to prepare the village for athletes.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, Dave Currie and his team are seeking an urgent resolution from the organisers to the ongoing delays.
“We’re working in partnership with teams from other Commonwealth nations and collectively we’re urging the CGF and Organising Committee to solve the outstanding issues. The situation is clearly unsettling for athletes and must be urgently resolved. Athletes are our focus right now.”
Both the Canadian and Scottish teams have delayed the arrival of athletes into Delhi to give organizers more time to make the village habitable.
