Charitable Record Attempt Needs Kiwi Smiles

Media release August 24, 2010

Charitable Record Attempt Needs Biggest & Brightest Kiwi Smiles

One of New Zealand’s leading oral health care brands is urging Kiwis to get behind World Oral Health Day by taking part in a record powerbrushing attempt with the proceeds donated to charity.

The Oral-B Powerbrushing Record Event will aim to set the New Zealand record for the largest number of people power brushing in one place at one time with a donation made to Variety – The Children’s Charity for every person who participates.

The event will be held on September 10 in Auckland and will be hosted by one of New Zealand’s favourite celebrity smiles, Hilary Timmins.

“Your smile is your greatest asset and what better way is there for Kiwis to show theirs off than to get involved in setting a New Zealand powerbrushing record,” she says.

Oral-B power toothbrushes deliver a dentist like clean feeling every time you brush your teeth, removing twice as much plaque as manual toothbrushes* to ensure happy and healthy Kiwi smiles.

“On the day we’ll have a goodie bag for everyone who participates and it’s also a great way to support Variety with $16 donated to the charity for everyone who takes part,” Timmins says.

All participants will receive an Oral-B Professional Care 5000 power toothbrush valued at almost RRP $100 and will go into the running to win a $5,000 cash prize.

Variety – The Children’s Charity Chief Executive Lorraine Taylor says she is excited about the new partnership with Oral-B.

"Variety is the fun way to help Kiwi kids and the partnership with the Oral-B Power Brushing record is another fantastic example of that,” she says.

“Variety’s mission is to help sick, disabled and disadvantaged Kiwi kids to reach their full potential through a series of grants. Money raised from the Oral-B Power Brushing Record will fund two specialised trikes for children with mobility issues. This will allow them to go on family bike rides, interact with their peers and provide important physical development,” says Ms Taylor.

The Oral-B Power Brushing Record event will be held from 6.30am on Friday 10th September at Les Mills Gym, 186 Victoria St West, Auckland.
