First Parachute 2011
Announcement
Auckland, 13 August 2010 – Key headliners for next year’s Parachute Music Festival have now been announced, and Parachute punters are making waves about seeing Christian rockers Skillet.
Parachute 2011 will see over 100 local and international artists performing at Hamilton’s Mystery Creek for the four day Christian music festival.
Tuesday’s line-up announcement saw internationally acclaimed worship songwriter Chris Tomlin (U.S.), heavy rockers Skillet (U.S.), soul-swingers NewWorldSon (Canada), Australian Idol winner Stan Walker (Australia) and alt-rock act Seabird (U.S.) listed amongst the first acts to be confirmed for the festival.
Over 700 Skillet fans had joined a petition group on Facebook requesting that Parachute Music bring the rock group over, and they were quick to celebrate the announcement online.
After the line-up release, members of the group typed on Facebook, “I'm so excited it made me cry...” and “We did it!”
Parachute Festival Organiser David Curtis said, “We saw the demand for Skillet, and are so pleased that we can respond to this petition with positive news! Social networking sites like Facebook allow us to keep more in tune with what Parachute punters really want and seeing the dedication of these Skillet fans reinforced that they would be a great act to have at Parachute 2011.”
In addition to this announcement, more Parachute 2011 acts will be announced in coming months.
Parachute 2011 will be held from January 28 - 31. For more information, please visit the official Parachute 2011 website.
