LEGO Debuts World’s First Buildable Board Games

This August LEGO will revolutionise the board game industry in New Zealand with the launch of LEGO Games, the world’s first collection of constructible board games.

With one of the games, Ramses Pyramid, developed in conjunction with Dr. Reiner Knizia, one of the world’s most successful games designers, the range will see 11 games introduced including strategy, action and chancebased games.

Tipped to be at the top of Wish Lists this Christmas, the ten new games from LEGO provide a whole new game play experience where, using LEGO bricks, players have to build the board game and dice before they can play!

Once built, players play the game which can last anywhere from 15 minutes to a full hour, and can include from 2 to 8 people. With LEGO Games the rules are there to be broken!

All 11 games can be changed by constructing the board game in a different way or by simply adding (or removing!) more LEGO bricks. The unique buildable dice in all LEGO Games allows players to change the rules: why stick to only moving five spaces when you roll a five when you can double it and move ten spaces?

In stores in August, pricing starts at $24.99 to $69.99 RRP. As part of the launch in New Zealand, the LEGO Games range will also feature a licensed property with the iconic Harry Potter Hogwarts™ board game, where players have to build and then move their Harry Potter characters through the famous castle from the Harry Potter novels, endeavouring to be the first to collect various homework objects to win the game.

The new LEGO Games range includes:

Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ A fun and challenging family game, players must successfully navigate moving staircases and secret passages at Hogwarts to collect all their homework items and return to the common room. Harry Potter Hogwarts (RRP $69.99) includes 9 LEGO microfigures, including Harry Potter™, Hermione Granger™, Ron Weasley™, Draco Malfoy™ and Albus Dumbledore™.

Creationary Roll the LEGO Dice to select one of four exciting building categories: vehicles, buildings, nature or things. Once players have picked their categories, it’s time to show off their building skills while others try to guess what they’re creating. With three levels of difficulty, Creationary (RRP: $69.99) is a great game for family and friends to test their imagination, creativity, building and guessing skills

Ramses Pyramid The Mummy King Ramses is planning on conquering all of Egypt with his army of mummies! Unlock the crystalcoded layers to climb to the top of the pyramid and defeat the Mummy King, taking his crown and the treasures within. Ramses Pyramid (RRP $49.99) lets players compete against each other or take on the Mummy King together!

Minotaurus The mighty Minotaur, a mythical creature, protects a secret temple hidden deep inside a labyrinth. Players must compete to be the first to lead their heroes to the temple, avoiding the Minotaur and cleverly placing walls to block opponents. Clear and simple rules makes Minotaurus (RRP $49.99) a game for the whole family.

Lunar Command By building enough space stations and gathering a full crew of robots and astronauts, players must use strategy to beat their opponent and be the first commander to launch the Lunar Rocket. A fun and exciting game for 2 players, Lunar Command (RRP $49.99) includes 6 LEGO microfigures and 271 pieces of LEGO.

Pirate Code Players must guess each other’s secret codes before someone discovers theirs with the ultimate aim of becoming the pirate captain. A game of logic and luck, secrets and treasures, Pirate Code (RRP $39.99) features include a buildable LEGO Dice, a LEGO microfigure and 268 pieces of LEGO.

Race 3000 Do players have what it takes to cross the finish line first and win the trophy? Competitors use shortcuts and turbo boost past opponents to get in front and avoid the oil slicks in their way. Race 3000 (RRP: $39.99) brings a new twist on a classic racing game.

Lava Dragon Players must prove they are the bravest knight of all by being the first one to summon the dragon from the top of the volcano. Players must avoid the lava and block their opponents as they climb to victory. With the LEGO Dice no two games of Lava Dragon (RRP: $29.99) are ever the same. Lava Dragon features include a buildable LEGO Dice, 4 LEGO microfigures and 131 pieces of LEGO.

Monster 4 Night has fallen in the graveyard and the monsters have come out to play with the skeletons. A clever and exciting game for 2 to 4 players, Monster 4 (RRP: $29.99) challenges players to be the first to get four of their monsters in a row.

Magikus Players must steal ingredients from their opponents to slow them down and help them win the game. A simple yet extremely engaging game for 2 to 4 players, Magikus (RRP: $24.99) relies on the help of an owl to collect special ingredients from the shelves.

Robo Champ A fast and fun game to play again and again, Robo Champ (RRP: $24.99) challenges players to be the first to build a robot with all the correct colour parts. With other players stealing body parts, it’s not as easy as it looks.
