Biography of My Skin
Once in a blue moon a show raises your spirits with the magic of real life.
Much loved actress Miranda Harcourt’s new play Biography of My Skin will have you in tears one minute and laughing out loud the next.
If you’ve ever been in love or come from a family, Biography is a must see.
Set against an 80’s and 90’s soundtrack – and a backdrop of traffic violations, the Springbok tour, Gloss, Princess Di, true crime and the search for the perfect skin care – Biography traces the role of a lifetime through four decades we’ll never forget.
Written by Miranda’s husband, acclaimed playwright Stuart McKenzie, what starts as a solo show is soon anything but, as people from her life pop up to argue their side of the story.
Biography of My Skin is another kiwi classic from the husband and wife team who toured Flowers from My Mother's Garden seen by over 35,000 New Zealanders. Flowers was a portrait of mothers, daughters and family, told through the relationship of Miranda and her mother Kate. Startling contemporary theatre with a big heart, Biography is the next piece in Harcourt and McKenzie’s “auto doco” genre that holds a mirror to ourselves.
Marriage – it’s no solo show!
