NZ Drama School Regional Audition Dates

Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School Regional Audition dates for Acting Course

Applications are now open for study in 2011 at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School. The deadline for the Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting) course is Monday 16 August after which the School’s representatives travel around the country to see applicants at regional auditions. Once initial regional auditions are completed, short-listed applicants are invited to attend a recall weekend at the School in Wellington, consisting of further interviews, auditions and classes.

DUNEDIN, COLUMBA COLLEGE ON MON 30 AUGUST
CHRISTCHURCH, HAGLEY THEATRE (THE OPEN STAGE) ON TUE 31 AUGUST & WED 1 SEPTEMBER
WELLINGTON, TE WHAEA: NATIONAL DANCE & DRAMA CENTRE ON FRI 3 & SAT 4 SEPTEMBER
AUCKLAND CITY , THE AUCKLAND PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE (TAPAC) ON MON 6 &TUE 7 SEPTEMBER
SOUTH AUCKLAND - TE WANANGA O AOTEAROA, MANAKAU CAMPUS ON WED 8 SEPTEMBER
ROTORUA, TE WHARE TOI, ROTORUA ARTS VILLAGE ON THU 9 SEPTEMBER
NAPIER, NAPIER TABARD THEATRE, ARAHURI ON FRI 10 SEPTEMBER

To apply for the acting degree, applicants must turn 18 before the first day of the first term. In 2011 this is Monday 21 February. There is no upper age limit and candidates of all backgrounds, with or without prior acting experience, may apply.

The National Drama School is at the leading edge of theatrical collaboration in New Zealand and embraces the talents of designers, directors, technicians, actors, managers, costumiers, playwrights, film makers, dramaturges and scholars.

At Toi Whakaari you can train to be: Designer for Stage and Screen, Backstage Technician, Stage Manager, Event Manager, Sound or Lighting Technician, Actor for Stage and Screen, Costumier or Director.

The application deadline for all other courses is Friday 24 September 2010.
