New Zealand International Film Festival 2010

The annual New Zealand International Film Festival has long been the premier film event of the year, and the cultural highlight of the New Zealand winter.

The Festival brings an impressive array of the latest and best films from all over the world to 15 cities and towns around New Zealand and will be in Napier at Hawke’s Bay Museum and Art Gallery’s Century Cinema from Wednesday 18 August until Sunday 5 September 2010.

The Napier programme includes Animal Kingdom – the best Australian bad-ass movie since Chopper, Once a Upon a Time in the West – the Everest of Italian westerns from 1969, beautifully restored for the big screen, The Hopes and Dreams of Gaza Snell - a New Zealand family drama set deep in the heart of Howick, The Illusionist another sterling animation from the maker of the Triplets of Belville and Clive Neeson’s New Zealand adventure sports documentary Last Paradise - where a boy’s own Paradise never looked so lush. Home-grown is now in its 14th year and shows the best New Zealand short films of 2010.

Thirty eight films including a programme of short films will be screened over 19 days totalling 57 sessions.

Join us for the opening night of the Festival on Wednesday 18 August at 7pm and enjoy a glass of Farmgate Wine and finger food followed by the screening of the film I Am Love - a lush, operatic Italian drama. All tickets $20. Get your tickets now to avoid disappointment.
