New Zealand Fashion Week 2010 Designer And Partner Announcement
The biggest list of designers in New Zealand Fashion Week’s (NZFW) history, have confirmed to show during the tenth year of New Zealand’s biggest fashion industry event.
NZFW Managing Director Pieter Stewart announced a preliminary list of confirmed designers and sponsorship partners, including a US designer, to sponsors and media at the Westin Auckland Lighter Quay, official hotel of NZFW.
“2010 is all about celebration for the New Zealand fashion industry” said Stewart, “a lot has changed in the past ten years and NZFW has seen a lot of designers come and go in that time, but announcing a full schedule of designer shows, the most we have ever had, is something to celebrate as we look toward the next ten years. “
Three designers who have shown consistently since year one, Zambezi, Nom D and Trelise Cooper, return again in 2010. They will be joined by more designers than ever before across the week.
New shows this year include an exciting showcase of seven wedding designers by NZ Weddings and a ten year retrospective, featuring an exciting mix of collections and film from the past decade - a great way to celebrate 10 years and launch into Fashion Weekend. Starfish will also stage the very first Eco show at NZFW this year.
Following the success of the A*Muse show in 2009, Stewart also announced US designer Nicole Miller will be a guest international designer in 2010.
2010’s New Generation Show will be sponsored by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), which joins the list of NZFW partners for the first time. This sponsorship offers a group of exciting new designers a chance to put on their own show during the week, as well as putting them through a business boot camp.
Returning to the schedule in 2010 is AgResearch, which will provide a select group of designers the chance to showcase its amazing fabrics on the catwalk. Miromoda is also back for its second year, nurturing the development of the Māori fashion industry’s future designers, by offering them the chance to show on the catwalk at NZFW.
Stewart announced a list of new sponsor partners joining the NZFW team, including IBM as naming sponsor of the Designer Selection Shows and VISA.
Another new partner, JR Duty Free will take the Designer Selection Shows on tour in the week following Fashion Week – holding them at Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch airports. This sponsorship offers designers the opportunity to reach their retailers outside the Auckland area and the public that don’t get the chance to attend shows at NZFW, an opportunity to see what it is all about.
Air New Zealand continues its support for NZFW at elite level after six years as naming rights sponsor, as does Westpac which will host top clients at its unique “Red Collection” show and NZFW’s official champagne Moet and Chandon, providing a glamorous touch with the Moet Lounge. Audi also returns in 2010, providing their prestigious vehicles to transport international and VIP guests to key Fashion Week locations.
Stewart thanked the Radio Network, the New Zealand Herald which continues to support the event as naming partner of the Designer Garage Sale and long-time strategic partner, Auckland City Council which helps develop the onsite fashion venue at Auckland’s Marine Viaduct Harbour.
Following the designer announcement, Pieter Stewart was joined by NZFW Sponsorship Manager Myken Stewart, to unveil the new creative artwork for NZFW 2010. This image is the result of an innovative marketing campaign, the NZFW New Talent competition, which has engaged fresh new fashion industry talent from around New Zealand and given the five lucky winners a foot up into the competitive fashion industry.
This imagery will now become the hero shot for what is going to be a full on NZFW 2010.
