Just “The Y” In The USA But Still The YMCA In New Zealand
The YMCA in the USA has a new logo and will now be known just as “The Y”. But for now, even though the YMCA in New Zealand is often known as “the Y”, it has no plans to change its name or its logo. Following an extensive re-branding exercise, Y-USA, the largest YMCA movement in the world, has decided to go for a refreshed look and feel.
“The YMCA has been part of New Zealand communities since 1855 and our brand is both recognisable and trusted” says YMCA New Zealand CEO Ric Odom. “Like most organisations, we are constantly reviewing our brand to make sure it remains contemporary and well understood. Currently, we are providing more services to more New Zealanders every year and we are working in partnership with more organisations, so our brand seems to be as strong as ever.”
Mr Odom is not ruling out changes in the future but for now, New Zealanders will continue to see the familiar YMCA name and logo in their communities.
