Westfield Style Pasifika Model Search 2010 Registrations Now Open

If you’ve got confidence, attitude and poise you might just have what it takes to be the face of the Westfield Style Pasifika Model Search 2010.

The Westfield Style Pasifika Model Search, now in its eighth year, gives aspiring models the opportunity to kick-start their modelling career by starring in New Zealand’s premier fashion awards plus the chance to secure a contract with top model agency, Vanity Walk.

Once again hosted by Flava 95.8FM, the model searches are held at Westfield Glenfield Thursday 29 July 2010 and Saturday 31 July 2010 and at Westfield Manukau City Friday 30 July 2010 and Sunday 1 August 2010.

Stan Wolfgramm, Style Pasifika creative director and show producer, wants to encourage anyone and everyone to be involved and stresses that he is not looking for the typical ‘model look’.

“We’re looking for everyone and anyone – all colours, all sizes, all ages’ says Wolfgramm. “It’s about getting away from the stereotypes and clichés.

“Style Pasifika celebrates cultural creativity and diversity of the people in New Zealand, and we want our models to reflect this. We want to give everyone an opportunity. I believe real people are just as beautiful as those with traditional model looks.

“There is so much undiscovered talent out there. People should just get down and give it a go.”

The judges will select two supreme winners - one from the Westfield Glenfield Model Search entrants and one from the Westfield Manukau entrants. Each winner will receive the Vanity Walk Level 1 & Level 2 Modelling Course valued at $850, plus a contract with Vanity Walk Model & Talent Agency.

Vanity Walk courses cover all aspects of professional modelling including extensive catwalk training, TV audition and camera acting techniques, make-up and hairstyling trends and style & self-esteem. Many models discovered at Westfield Style Pasifika Model Search and trained by Vanity Walk have worked both locally and internationally in catwalk shows, editorial and commercial photographic campaigns and featured in TV commercials.

This year renowned creative director Warren Dion Smith and his team from the Getfunkd Hair Salons are joining the model searches and providing free makeovers for the public.

Judges will choose 90 finalists from the Model Search and invite them to model at the Westfield Style Pasifika prejudging day. Thirty-five of these will then go on to be trained and prepped, and strut their stuff on the catwalk at Westfield Style Pasifika 2010.

Flava 95.8FM, Special Projects Manager Stuart Dwight says “Flava are proud to be the official radio station of Style Pasifika. It’s wonderful to be supporting the arts and talents of New Zealand’s emerging designers and entertainers and to help find the beautiful individuals that grace the catwalk during the evening.”

Now in its seventeenth year, Westfield Style Pasifika challenges designers to produce cutting edge fashion inspired by the unique and colourful fusion of Pasifika. The result is an explosion of fashion, art and culture and something that helps define a unique New Zealand style. The event is seen by a live audience of 7,000 and a TV viewing audience of more than 300,000.

Westfield Style Pasifika takes place at the Vector Arena on Friday 3 September 2010 and tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster.
