Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts

Auckland’s newest inspirational Talk Series starts 23rd July.

Arm Chair Travels

The places, the sights, the memories - leading Auckland architects, artists and designers bring their personal travel insights to the public for 8 consecutive talks.

If a trip overseas to indulge in architecture, design and art sounds like something on the ‘wish’ list this winter then you won’t want to miss Arm Chair Travels.

During the wintery months of July, August and September the Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design is bringing the Design School to town and invites everyone along to enjoy a visually stimulating series of travel adventures.

Nanette’s Cameron’s name is a byword for the Auckland design community, and during its 40 year history the school has installed an understanding and appreciation of design in more than four thousand students.  The Interior Design Schools philosophy is to broaden the cultural background of the students. This new talk series offers the public an introduction and an insight into Nanette’s dedication to design, architecture and interiors.

A glance over the list of speakers topics is an inspiration in itself, Pete Bossley on The Weird and Wonderful Architecture of Holland, Sue McLean on Aesthetic Adventures in Spain. Armchair travel your way through the ruins and galleries of the Mediterranean and Egypt with Gill Hubble and Join Michael Milojevic as he recounts his study tour of regenerating historic buildings in Iberia in the 21st Century.

All talks start at 12noon and are held at the Grey Lynn Community Centre. The price for each talk is $35 and includes a light lunch. Come to one talk or come to them all! Purchase the series of 8 talks for the price of 7.  Bookings are essential and can be made by calling Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts on 577 0138.
