NZ Body Art Awards 2010
Not Just World Famous
in New Zealand
Now in its fifth year, the
NZ Body Art Awards celebrates the country’s prowess
in the field of Body Art and unearths a new generation of
talent within our country. It also looks to showcase the
significant influence New Zealand has on Body Art across the
globe.
On the 2nd of October the annual awards showcase will bring artists from up and down the country and from around the globe to the North Shore where the crème de crème are honoured, with such awards as “Air Brushed Body Art”, “SPFX Fantasy”, “Best Emerging Artist”, and the highest accolade of all the “Supreme Award” which is presented at the end of the night by Hollywood Special Make-Up Artists and esteemed guests Gabe Bartalos and Alex Hansen.
NZ Body Art Awards are thrilled to have these two amazing American judges at this year awards, they both have over 20 years experience in the profession and their support and interest shows how celebrated NZ Body Art has become. Gabe Bartalos owns and operates Atlantic West Effects, a full service make-up special effects studio in California. He contributed to the amazing ad campaign in the US for Nip/Tuck, and has worked on a number of Rolling Stone Magazine shoots (transforming the likes of Will Ferrell, Johnny Knoxville and Marilyn Manson). Alex Hansen has been ranked number one in the ‘Air Brush Category’ in competitions in Austria, Korea, Sweden, Orlando, Vegas, Canada and British-Colombia Canada!
This year’s star studded event features a who’s who of personalities both in the world of Body Art and outside it; this year’s theme ‘Incredible India’ will be honoured with the presence of a glamorous MC, Indian top model, Bollywood superstar and former Miss India, Sindhura Gadde. Multi academy award winner Weta Workshop’s and newly knighted Sir Richard Taylor has also been confirmed as part of the judging panel.
With 2010’s theme, “Incredible India”, chosen due to its colourful, inspiring imagery and fascinating cultural references, Kanan Deobhakta, New Zealand’s leading Odissi and teacher will be choreographing the awards along with participation from the New Zealand and Australian Indian and Dance community.
The NZ Body Art Awards is a testament to the drive and determination of Body Art creator and Executive Director Mem Bourke, who has single-handedly started and embedded Body Art as a real force in this country and has in part helped New Zealand’s film industry gain a competitive advantage internationally.
Come and celebrate the leaders in Body Art not only in the Southern Hemisphere but also from around the world, as the NZ Body Art Awards once again sets the benchmark in talent and continues to entice Hollywood to knock on our front door.
