Increase involvement in the arts at a local level
Increase involvement in the arts at a local level
Want to get an art project happening in your neighbourhood? Funding for these projects just got easier with the newly refined Creative Communities scheme.
Auckland City Council administers this scheme on behalf of Creative New Zealand to assist the delivery of arts projects that benefit the residents of our city.
We are now inviting applications for funding for next year’s entire scheme for projects taking place between 1 November 2010 and 31 October 2011. Applications close on 23 July 2010 There will also only be one round for all of next year’s funding.
Creative Communities is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and Auckland City Council that offers funding for projects that encourage active participation in the arts at a local level, allowing people to develop their artistic skills through diverse art projects that benefit the community.
Interested groups can find out more about the scheme at six different information sessions around the city.
These sessions provide advice on the application process and criteria, ensuring applicants have the best chance for success. The criteria for the scheme have changed this year, making it more important than ever to attend an information session.

Councillor Toni Millar, chairperson of
the Creative Communities sub-committee, says the Creative
Communities scheme encourages people to make the most of
their own creative talents in a way that also involves
members of the local community.
“The funding helps groups or individuals to get their projects off the ground. These can be new projects or fresh ideas that expand on existing arts ventures.
“The criteria has changed for the scheme this year, so even if you have applied for funding before, attending one of the information sessions to learn about the new criteria will assist you in your application.
“This is also the only funding round for Creative Communities this year, so we urge people to get their applications in and make the most of the funding available.”
