Cuisine Wine Country judged Best Drink Magazine in the world
Cuisine’s top-selling biennial wine and food tourism guide, Cuisine Wine Country 2009 has won the gold ladle for Best
Drink Magazine in the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards 2010 in Adelaide.
This is not the first time Cuisine has starred in these awards, which recognise excellence in the international food and
drink publishing and broadcasting industries. The magazine was judged Best Food Magazine last time round and was again
named as a finalist in this category in 2010. More than 700 entries overall were judged by 60 international jurors.
Says Cuisine editor, Sarah Nicholson, “Cuisine Wine Country is a real celebration of New Zealand’s burgeoning wine areas
and we’re delighted that the publication has been acknowledged on the world stage.”
More wine drinkers look for the Cuisine recommendation than any other endorsement in New Zealand, with over 2.2 million
Recommended by Cuisine bottle stickers sold in the past year, says Nicholson. “That’s up nearly 100 per cent on the
previous 12 months – yet another indicator that Cuisine is a trusted authority when it comes to selecting wine.”
In the past year the Cuisine wine-tasting panel has reviewed close to 1500 wines, making Cuisine Wine Country the
ultimate go-to-guide for wine enthusiasts. The 2009 edition offers the definitive guide to New Zealand’s 13 wine
regions, inviting visitors to explore vineyards, cafés, restaurants, farmers’ markets and more the length and breadth of
the country.
Fairfax Magazines general manager, Lynley Belton, says Cuisine is honoured to receive such a prestigious award. “The
calibre of the competition is incredibly high and to be recognised for the second year in a row is testament to
Cuisine’s ongoing high standards on the international stage.”
This week’s win is particularly rewarding as the team is now working on the 2011 edition of Cuisine Wine Country, due
out later this year on 8 November, Belton says.
