Spy Valley offers incentives to the Black Caps to produce champagne cricket at World Twenty20 Cup
Leading New Zealand winery Spy Valley is offering the Black Caps an array of incentives to produce champagne winning cricket at the World Twenty20 Cup cricket tournament starting in the Caribbean this weekend.
The award-winning Marlborough winery is putting up a case of their best bubbly for every hundred scored by any New Zealand batsman in the tournament.
Also for every six hit by a Black Caps batsman, the winery will gift a bottle of their Spy Valley pinot noir, Spy Valley general manager Blair Gibbs said from Blenheim today.
``We’ll also shout the team a case of wine for every win and on top of that a dozen cases if they become the world champions,’’ Gibbs said.
Gibbs said Spy Valley wanted to get behind the New Zealand cricket team because of their proud fight spirit, which showed out in the drawn homes T20 series with Australia this summer.
The Black Caps first two matches in the World Cup are against Sri Lanka (tomorrow) and Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
Pivotal to New Zealand's success is their powerful batting especially from Jesse Ryder, Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor.
Spy Valley, which got its name from the US spy base sited further up the Waihopai Valley, has been popular on luxury love boats cruising the Caribbean this year.
