So many (funny) Men, so little time...

We've made it to the funniest part of the year, and I'm not sure about you but the NZ International Comedy Festival is the biggest abs workout I get all year! The keg will be a six pack in no time...

This week the men take charge: James Nokise was last at BATS with The Minister's Son, but this will a totally different (i.e. funnier) kettle of fish.

Jamie Bowen had the Opera House chuckling away at his rendition of Gangstas Paradise last night so you better get booking for his musical stand up sketch mash up!

Rounding out the week is The Glorious Sky Awesomes - hands up who saw Apollo 13: Mission Control? Then you should be putting your hand up for this too, the other side of the space race mixed in with the secret history of the Cold War. It's really really funny.

Our one tip for the Comedy Festival? Book! We picked these shows over the next week because we reckon you'll laugh at them a whole heap, so check out our website and pick a few to see. Next week you can check out Maeve Higgins, Billy T nominee Jarred Fell and Wellington's own The Comediettes. Huzzah!

And if you aren't up for some Comedy, The PlayPit is starting up next week on Monday at 6pm, with a fresh new New Zealand play for your listening pleasure... check out Facebook and Twitter later this week for more. See you soon!

Is This It?

with James Nokise

Opens tomorrow! Until Saturday 1st May @ 6.30PM

Opening Night deal - bring the box office a bottle of red wine and get two free tickets on Tuesday night only.

As seen on the 'Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Gala' and TV's 'The Great Kiwi Christmas Comedy Gala', New Zealand's favourite Welsh/Samoan is back in 2010 asking "Is this it?". After receiving an invitation to his college reunion, James Nokise started tracking down his old friends. The result is an unmissable new hour of hilarious tour-de-fob comedy.

A Rational Fear of Concrete

with Jamie Bowen

Opens tomorrow! Until Saturday 1st May @ 8PM

tickets $20 full / $14 concession / $16 groups (6+)

A show about falling over; both literally (ouch) and metaphorically (stink-buzz).

From his beginnings in sketch comedy trio ‘GARY’ to now, Jamie has established himself as one of the mainstays of the NZ comedy circuit with nearly a decade of performing under his belt - and he’s only just getting started!

As well as numerous shows around the country, Jamie recently completed work on the upcoming TV series ‘A Night At The Classic’ - which he co-created, wrote and appears in - due to screen on TV2 in the near future.

His career has seen him perform all over Australia, in London, Edinburgh and Singapore as well as having extensively toured the length of NZ several times over. Mixing stand-up, story telling, random banter, music and anything else that springs to mind on the night, Jamie has proved to be one of NZ’s most exciting and creative young comedians.

Check out Jamie's website here.

2010: A VERY SPECIAL ODYSSEY. See the birth of the spacerace, right before your eyes.

Rigorously researched on an Amiga 500 and Reader’s Wives magazines, LeadHat have finally rewritten history and proudly present the truth to YOU about this famous event.

Originally hailing from the same city as ‘racism’ and the methodone capital of the South Island, LeadHat are Paul Glubb and Nic Gorman, two ‘well-known comedians’, writers and improvisers. Between them Nic and Paul have performed as Santa in a mall, Bumble the Educational Bee, the Warriors’ mascot, oversized cell-phones, Todd Blackadder, Ophelia Balls, Indians who tried to rob the Tranz Alpine, and two plucky Nazis who managed to capture Anne Frank.
