APO Presents Musical Fun For Preschoolers

--FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---

APO Presents Musical Fun For Preschoolers In Manukau And Auckland

Favourite musical pieces around planes, trains and automobiles feature in the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s popular annual concerts for young children APO 4 Kids.

APO 4 Kids: Planes, Trains and Automobiles is at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre on Saturday 17 April and at Auckland Town Hall, THE EDGE on Saturday 1 May with shows at both venues at 10.30am and 12 noon.

Presenter Kevin Keys entertains and encourages interaction while exploring the different sounds and instruments of the orchestra. Children have the opportunity to see the double bass, bassoon, tuba and glockenspiel up close during the concert, and even conduct the orchestra as they march through the musicians during the finale.

This year’s theme will also see plenty of transport tunes including The Wheels on The Bus, Thomas the Tank Engine and Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines.

The APO is in its 12th year of entertaining Auckland’s youngest audiences with concerts especially for pre-schoolers and their families, and 2010 is the second year the orchestra has taken the concert to Manukau. In March, North Shore youngsters had the opportunity to experience the concert.

“It’s the perfect combination of learning and play set to a magical orchestral sound, says chief executive Barbara Glaser. “We’re very pleased to be bringing this very popular concert to young children and their families all over Auckland.”
