Two Days until Armageddon! Wellington Prepares for the Sci-Fi Event of the Year.
The 40th Armageddon Expo explodes into Wellington this Easter Friday to Sunday at the TSB Arena with three days of action packed entertainment celebrating the good, the bad and the nerdy of the sci-fi, gaming, anime and more.
Armageddon Expo is the biggest sci-fi event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere with the Wellington show set to pull a crowd 15,000 strong. Popular with families, the young and old alike, old school gamers to Pokemon costumed youngsters, the expo is a great mix of pulp culture at its finest.
Popular features include the film screenings, performances from IPW Wrestlers, interview panels with stars and voice actors and the always entertaining Cosplay Contest where contestants don their most unique and obscure anime outfit, get into character and perform on stage for dozens of fans.
Wellington Armageddon visitors are also lucky enough to have two famous TV and Movie stars exclusively attending the event – Chaske Spencer, who plays werewolf ‘Sam Uley’ in the movie Twilight New Moon will be sure to have Twilight fans flocking to Armageddon for an autograph and a chance to chat up this good looking actor. And fans of hit TV series Boston Legal will get the opportunity and meet ‘Lewiston’ a.k.a Rene Auberjonois - also renowned for his roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and many other television programmes.
Heroes is now back on New Zealand television and Wellington Armageddon fans can meet ‘Ando Masahashi’ - James Kyson Lee - in his first visit to New Zealand. Plus Dr Who fans will be delighted to meet Paul McGann, as the famous eighth ‘Doctor’ signs autographs.
2009’s most popular performer returns by popular demand - Michael Winslow, the legendary man of 10,000 sound effects will be entertaining audiences in a double-act with fellow Police Academy co-star Marion Ramsey.
Anime, Manga and Comic-mad fans can meet voice of Xmen’s ‘Wolverine’ Steve Blum, Naruto’s Tom Gibis and the self-described ‘teller of tall tales’ Robert Rankin, plus Madman Comic artist Mike Allred, artist Agnes Garbowski and many more.
And it wouldn’t be Easter without an Easter Egg Hunt where visitors will then get enough energy to hit the NZGamer area, and challenge their friends to a competitive game of lasertag!
There are dozens more competitions where guests can compete in the eating competitions, enter New Zealand’s biggest Pillow Fight, or test their balance in the Amazing Aqua Bubble - giving visitors the opportunity to run ‘n’ roll on water.
Fresh from last weekend’s Christchurch Armageddon Expo, event organizer Bill Geradts says that the 2010 Wellington Armageddon Expo is the 40th Armageddon in New Zealand and after years of improving the format, this one is going to be a knock out. “It’s the most non-stop entertainment and fun Wellington will have all Easter, and our fast selling multiday passes prove that visitors will want to keep coming back for more,” he said.
Armageddon Expo visitors can leave their civilian selves at the door and step into another world– from the past, present, future and fantasy! And with one, two and three day passes available the fun can last all weekend long.
