News Release

Topp Twins to host creative marching
ROTORUA 12.03.10:

Musical and comic duo the Topp Twins will be in Rotorua on Friday (19 March) to MC the New Zealand Marching Champs Gala March at the Energy Events Centre.
The Gala March is part of the national marching competition taking place from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March.

Rotorua District Council event coordinator Amanda Hohneck says the event’s always popular Gala March being hosted by Jools and Lynda Topp allows marchers the opportunity to have fun with their creative skills and flair.

“Music, routines and costumes are teams’ own choice, with very few criteria components, allowing real creativity and innovation.

“We’re delighted to have our well-loved Kiwi icons presenting at the Gala March. They’ll bring a unique flavour consistent with the theme of this event, and a celebrity touch we haven’t had before.”

The New Zealand Marching Championships begin with a street parade at City Focus on Thursday 18 March at 1pm, qualifying and plate march on Friday and Saturday, with finals on Sunday 21 March.

The Topp Twins are at the NZ National Marching Champs Gala March on Friday from 7.15pm at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

Tickets can be purchased at Kaitao Intermediate School or Skin Graft on 1175 Hinemoa St.

Entry costs for events:

Friday 19 March: Qualifying March. Entry gold coin.
