What's On Air This Week at Wellington Access Radio?

Keeping it live and local again this week! If you love Wellington, you’ll love Wellington’s own radio station. Wellington Access Radio has been broadcasting here for almost 30 years (what do you mean you’ve never heard of us?!) and we love this City. Community Zone (English) : Mon-Thu 5-6pm
The best local radio show in Wellington! – Community Zone celebrates our awesome grassroots communities with brilliant local news, notices, reviews and special guests.
Monday C Zone: Jen catches with the creative forces behind the New Zealand International Arts Festival and the cast of Fringe’s A Love Tail.

Youth Zone (English) : Mon-Thu 3.30-5pm
The voice of Wellington Youth! We’re always looking for vibrant young people to get involved with the Programme. Email jess@accessradio.org.nz if you know someone who’d love to be a radio star!
Wednesday Y Zone: The Youth Zoners catch up with public health nurse Craig, he’ll be chatting about the work he does in Wellington Schools.
Thursday Y Zone: Jess hosts an IHC Week Special. She visited the Wellington East Girls College Special Needs Unit to chat with the students about all the things going on at School.
Pacific Health Service (Various Pacific): Tue 8-9pm
The Pasifika mental health programme about like minds like mine- know me before you judge me. Presented in Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands Maori and Tokelauan. This week news and information about mental health services for Pacific people.

Sangeet Sargam (Hindi): Wed 6.30-8.30pm
Hosted by Shashi Jokhan, Sangeet Sargam has been broadcasting on Wellington Access Radio for more than fifteen years. The Programme has listeners of all age groups amongst the Indian community and contains lovely Indian music from Bollywood movies; new and old hits, interviews with celebrities and local personalities, Bollywood news, family issues, updates on community and local activities, news, competitions and much more. A hugely popular Programme, which is rebroadcast in Australia.

Healthy Eating, Healthy Action is the theme of this fantastic programme for Pacific people. It’s all the encouragement you need to eat better and get exercising. A Programme to keep Filipinos in touch with their heritage and culture. It also provides information for the benefit of Filipinos and other migrants to assist them in integrating smoothly into the wider community. There is great music by Filipino artists. The Programme wishes to reach out and provide a sense of belonging to those in isolated places.

The People's Centre Speaks (English): Sat 10-10.15am
The Wellington People's Centre has been working since 1992 to provide affordable health services and free advocacy services. They believe that everyone should have access to services to meet their basic human needs. This week’s Programme includes news and information from the Wellington Peoples Centre, especially issues regarding beneficiaries.
