Womad NZ’s Special Offer to Disappointed Whitney Houston Fans
Organisers of WOMAD NZ have announced a special offer to people who have tickets to the cancelled Whitney Houston concert in New Zealand.
Fans disappointed by the cancellation of the Whitney Houston concert that was scheduled to take place at the Bowl of Brooklands, New Plymouth, on Saturday 6 March are invited to present their tickets to Ticketek outlets before 1 March 2010 and receive a Saturday WOMAD ticket for the same price ($120 + service fees).
WOMAD NZ event director Suzanne Porter says that a week after Whitney’s cancelled concert the Bowl of Brooklands will be alive with 30 hours of sophisticated entertainment, art, craft, food and culture from around the globe.
“WOMAD is absolutely secure and I can reassure disappointed Whitney fans that they can still have a vibrant summer experience at one of the world’s most stunning venues with world class entertainment and a level of sophistication not found at other festivals in New Zealand”.
WOMAD NZ 2010 will be the eighth time this unique festival has been held in New Zealand, and the sixth time New Plymouth has played host to the event. The festival was first held in Taranaki in 2003 and was biennial until 2008.
“WOMAD NZ has a very secure relationship with the venue’s managers and plans are well under way to transform the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in to a global village showcasing the best of music, art and dance from around the world”, Ms Porter says.
WOMAD NZ 2010 will feature 266 performers from 19 countries on seven stages. As well as music and performance, the festival also includes cooking demonstrations and workshops by artists, artists-in-conversation, Kidzone, a global village of more than 80 stalls including international food, beverages, arts and crafts, CDs and WOMAD merchandise and a sustainable village.
