New venue and more tickets to cope with demand for
Richard Dawkins’ talk
More tickets will go on sale tomorrow for a talk by controversial evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins’ at this year’s New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week, part of the New Zealand International Arts Festival.
Tickets sold out within weeks of going on sale in November. His hour long appearance on Wednesday 10 March has been moved from the Town Hall to the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington to accommodate the huge demand for this event.
“From the moment we launched our programme
Richard Dawkins has proved to be one of our biggest stars.
This outspoken advocate for science and reason is clearly a
tonic in these uncertain times,” says Laura Kroetsch,
Programme Manager for New Zealand Post Writers and Readers
Week, part of the New Zealand International Arts
Festival.
“Dawkins is a gifted scientist and
intellectual provocateur, and I’m sure his session will be
unforgettable.”
Dawkins’ most recent book, The Greatest Show on Earth, sees him return to evolutionary biology as he takes on those who question evolution through natural selection.
The New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week runs from Tuesday 9 March to Sunday 14 March and features 53 New Zealand and international writers from eight countries. It is one way that New Zealand Post shares its commitment to enhancing literature and literacy in New Zealand.
